Water Conservation Tips
Record dry conditions in California have severely impacted the states water supply. Here are a few ways you can save water while reducing your water bill.
INSIDE-
- While brushing your teeth, turn off the water and use a glass of water to rinse with -- Save 3 gallons a day
- Shorten your showers by a couple of minutes -- Save 5 gallons a day
- Fix leaky faucets and toilets -- Save up to 200 gallons a day
- Only run full loads of laundry/dishes -- Save 15 - 20 gallons a load
OUTSIDE-
- Water the lawn before 8 a.m. to reduce evaporation -- Save 25 gallons a day
- Sweep your driveway and sidewalks clean instead of hosing them clean -- Save 150 gallons each cleaning
- When washing your car by hand, use a hose with an automatic shut-off nozzle -- Save 150+ gallons each wash
- Raise lawn mower blade to three inches. Taller grass promotes deeper grass roots and helps the root system retain more moisture.
- Adjust lawn sprinklers to prevent overspray onto areas that do not need watering.
